March 4
Checked on animals on my way back to Berkeley today around noon.
Mice in this cage and adjoining cage (1461-1412) had chewed through
the partition and were mixed between the two sides. I put them
back on the correct sides and tried to block the hole.
March 9
Checked on animals this am and they had chewed through partition
again - 1476♂ was huddled in the corner and his tail was swollen
and chewed up. And couldn't find offspring of ♀[illegible]!! Found
them dead in cage next day (see 1461 notes). Perhaps, 1476,
being the only non-related mouse killed ♀'s babies and
was subsequently attacked by the breeding male and/or female
?? I took 1476 out and put him in a plastic cage with
food and water.
