RIBBLE, D.O 1984 Peromyscus californicus 25 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif. April 23 This AM on RL drift fence I dusted ♀ 1421, lactating, st W-2.5, with GREEN powder - Caught ♀ 1183 & ♂ 040 (presumed mates) at E-8.3 in same trap with 3 newborn babies ! Pulled the male out and put him in another trap; added cotton to the trap with babies, and took all of them back to cabin. On GRIDWE I caught ♀1429, st 3.3 with 1 newborn pup! Carried her back to the cabin along with 1183/040, and put each female in a cage (040 with 1183) with cotton and fresh food - Hopefully they will take care of their pups and I can reintroduce them in a few days (?) Additionally on GRIDWE I redusted ♀ 1435, 44g, lactating, st 6.6 with ORANGE powder [*she lost 3.5g since yesterday, so she must have given birth (?)] ; redusted ♀ 1185, 43g, post-lact, st 8.5 with GREEN powder; caught ♂ 0110, st 16.44 covered with clearly visible RED powder; ♀ 1541; st 5.5 with ORANGE powder clearly visible in ears, feet & tail [see notes 27AM]; offspring of 1435. #1544 ♀ SAD, nullip. 25.5g. Ear-tagged. GRIDWE, st 16.14. {coll-tissues. No sign of powder; :- presumed immigrants} #1545 ♀ SAD, nullip. 31g. " - " . " " , st 15.15. #1550 ♀ Lunn, nullip. (29.5g " - " . " " , st 2.3. Coll-tissues Covered with trouble BLUE-GREEN powder :- offspring of ♀ 1429. Calculated 35 days old. This PM on GRIDWE I dusted ♀ 1399, 47g, perf, preg? with GOLDEN BROWN at st 2.1 (and finally collected her tail tip) April 24 This AM on RL drift fence caught ♂ 010, serial, st W-2 covered with GREEN powder. This AM on GRIDWE I caught ♀ 1560, st 9.8 with what may be a sperm plug in her vagina - vagina was perforate with trouble brownish viscous substance inside
