On GRID MC this PM we caught ♂ #1480 at st. 9,10 covered
with ORANGE powder. * This is strange, 1480 is offspring of
♀ 020 (RED) and not ♀1351 (ORANGE). Will need to double

No sign of powder: immigrant
April 7
Caught ♀ 020 st 11,5 this AM on GRID MC and she was definitely
lactating. On GRID MC caught ♀ 1351, [illegible] 41g, st 9,8. On
GRID RC this AM caught ♂ #0130, scrotal, st 5,11; radio-collard
him Ch #7, and dotted his tail and body with liquid paper
to distinguish him from his ♀ mate (1225). Also we recaptured
♂1225 st. 4.9, Ch# Radio-collared ♂ #1257, st 4,8, (mate of ♀020)
Ch #12 and also dotted him with liquid paper
(1700h)
We returned to GRID RC to try and get the fiber-optics on a
location for ♂ #0130 (male of 1225). The location was ~6.2, 10.5;
on the south side of the stream bank, ~1m high. The hole into the
bank was about 10cm wide by 5cm high and a nest was visible
with the flashlight ~ 12cm inside (couldn't reach in with hand).
David set up the fiber optics which enabled us to look inside.
The nest looked maintained, but no sign of any mice - telemetry
indicated the male was moving around, so he probably escaped
down some tunnel. No sign of the ♀ (her collar isn't working !).
This PM on GRID RC we removed the radio from ♂ #040
(chewed, but repairable) and re-collared ♀1225 Ch #18, and dusted
her before releasing at st 6,10.
April 8 Still out this evening on GRID MC, caught ♂# 1212, 36.5g, scrotal
