RUBBLE, D.O. 1969 PEROMYSCUS CALIFORNIUS 7 Hastings Reservation, Monterey Co., Calif Feb 18 This AM on GRID R2 I caught M #0480 with visible BLUE-GREEN in his ears (from F#030) and F# 1257, st 4.9; covered with visible ORANGE powder in his ears (from F#020 Feb 19 This AM early (0530h) caught M #0480 covered with blue-green powder at 6.15 - I also dusted F1225, st 5.11; with PURPLE POWDER; F 1364, lact, st 5-13, with GOLDEN BROWN; and F#020, pregnant, st 4.9 with ORANGE powder. I also conducted 4 dyadic encounters this AM. Things worked out much better today - Note that the arena works best when the supports are up, allowing the ground edges to be dug into the ground . The light seems to work well without bothering the mice (at least not noticeable). Finally, 10min observations should be done because most of the action seems to happen in the last 5 min. I finished the last encounter about using lights due to sunrise (flummoxed by glare). The data appeared good from this last one, but it wouldn't go past 0730.
