Remsen, J.V. 1977 Dusky Flycatcher Empidonax oberholseri June 20 East Mojave Desert, San Bernardino Co. Calif.: pair in white fir patch - Nest with 4 eggs in a white fir sapling about 4' off the ground. First breeding record for the NY mountains. Two other birds were heard singing in pinyon-live oak away from white firs @700-7000'. June 21 Kingston Range, San Bernardino Co. Calif.: 4 singing birds in canyons A and B @600-@800 ft. in pure pinyon. These birds were > 1 mile from the white firs - this species certainly does not need white firs
