near westernmost extension of low dense willows near the mouth
(downstream from sewage plant) - extremely rare in N. Calif!
Watched for 5 minutes from about 30 ft. as it sat tamely
on a low dead branch 20' above ground - fantastic views.
long, prominent, sharply defined white stripe visible along
entire leading edge of wing when perched ; bill much longer
proportionally than Mourning Dove, and slightly drooping ; eye
appeared gold or orange ; underside of tail when perched
looked blackish with broad white terminal band and was
definitely square, not pointed. When flushed, it flew directly
into the sun, preventing good views of wings in flight, but
we could see the even, white terminal band on the tail
