Oct.21 Furnace Creek Ranch, Inyo Co., Calif: 3 - 2 on golf course,
1 feeding on road-Hill insects along highway ~ 2 mi. N.
of visitor center, (photographs)
Oct.23 East Mojave Desert, San Bernardino Co., Calif.: 8 in barren,
open disturbed area ~ 1 mi. S. of Piute Gorge in extreme
eastern Lanfair Valley. Only the second county record. One
was collected by Steve Cardiff - specimen to San Bernardino
Co. Museum.
Dec.11 Oasis Ranch, Mono Co., Calif: 1 in grazed pasture:
- uniform sandy brown above and on chest becoming paler on underparts -
no visible speckling or spotting. No previous Mono Co. records.
Dec.23 Sandy Mush Rd., Merced Co., Calif: 146 counted in ground-squirrel
colony on N. side of road 1-2 miles W. of Hwy 59. Large number
for N. Calif.
