Remsen, J.V. 1977 Oldsquaw Clangula hyemalis July 31 Bay Bridge Toll Plaza, Alameda Co., Calif.: 1 Ø along beach near radio station. Extremely unusual in summer. This was an extremely worn bird - probably flightless since most of the primaries looked completely disintegrated. The underparts were a soiled white with a small dark spot which might have been oil. The white patches on the face were discernible but much less distinct than in clean winter plumage. The upperparts were a sandy-brown. Dec. 4 Monterey area, Monterey Co., Calif.: 1 - Coast Guard Pier. Dec. 18 Bodega Bay, Sonoma Co., Calif: 1 - harbor ~ ½ mi from mouth.
