Olor bewicHii
Dec.23 Victoria Island, San Joaquin Co., Calif.: 1 ad. seen in flock
of 4500 Whistling Swans 3.0 mi. E of Contra Costa Co. line
where found Dec. 21. It took an hour to pick out the

gleaming
lemon yellow
The bird looked identical to Whistling Swan in color, body
size, body proportions, and bill shape, differing only in
the amount of yellow on the bill. At least one apparent
hybrid was seen which had more yellow than a Whistling Swan's
teardrop but lacked the full yellow patch of Bewick's.
