Remsen, J.V. 1977 Leach's Storm Petrel Oceanodroma leucorhoa Nov. 6 Monterey area, Monterey Co., Calif: I seen from shore at Coast Guard Pier during strong NW winds and rough seas. It was watched for 2-3 minutes 400 yds offshore as it worked its way slowly against the wind. All blackish except for white rump (no white on sides-flanks-under tail coverts) with darker center stripe, forked tail, long wings, deep wingbeats.
