Steatornain parasiticus - 3 7 June Aleche River Coal Mine, (67°25' W, 71°24' N), Alaska The local pair seen attacking 2 graucous gulls behind camp in the A.M. A few seen around the camp area during the rest of the day. 8 June. A single and 2 light birds near the campplot, after settling on the ground. One seen working along the river shore apparently checking the willow trees closely, but not finding any thing. Supprisingly lane #1 near the village, at least 3 light and 2-3 dark birds there. Possibly the "local pair" is more than one pair. Early garbage. One long- tail / Parasitic chase seen, and a little Parasitic / Parasitic figure. The ground cack quire from an oblique posture with the wings folded, most pronounced in the 2. See Yellow Waytail. 9 June 3-4 light birds and a couple of dark birds near the village. Quiet and little display. Don't have the impression of paired birds there anywhere. Little Activity in the evening. A dark bird chasing long-tails over the village about 6 PM. 10-19 June A few near the village and occasionally over to camp area. Fight with longtails in the evening by the village. Only light phase birds seem to be around now. Eating garbage!
