De Benedicts 1965 Stercorarius pomarinus July 10 Barrow, Alaska - the birds on the Beach ridge and the area to the N and in Central Marsh appears to be occupying territories ~ 3/4X those of birds elsewhere - or there are large unoccupied area. They are comparatively scarce in the Meadow Lakes area although considering [illegible] area they might be comparatively sized territories as well. Holme's Mora proper has a low population [illegible] area along Woldbelling Sought Elson wagon is a densely occupied as any place else. One nest found had only one egg, and 2 light-dark egg nests were seen. Still a considerable variation in their reaction to intrusion. About 3-5 black birds in this area. 11 July Birds in the region South of Footprint Lake were obviously nesting and were seen in densities quite comparable to the area just N of Footprint. They were fairly quiet and were frequently seen in aerial chases. No nests were found but many setting [illegible] were seen. A two egg nest seen in [illegible] must have been fairly recent as the area it was in had been flooded up to Long [illegible] and the "group" there seems to have split up as the group on Central Marsh. No sign the birds are having any probable yet. 12 July Steaked a two egg nest East of hine IT and saw another sitting bird.
