Least Weasel
29 July Before Alaska - cause dorm and dropped the weasel,
which immediately attracted the jaegers, and this
was repeated 4 times, the weasel clearly being overcome
and the jaegers staying closer in and becoming less
hesitant to attack. The 7 jaeger stayed near the 4
but did not assist in the "kill" and after the 1st time
the weasel was dropped the jaegers from the pair to the
north came in and tried to "horn in"; it was not
closed off until after it had a half minute or so
period to get at the weasel which was on the ground
fending off the jaegers. At the 2nd time. After the 7
jaeger got the weasel, her mate chased the intruder
away. The 3rd time the weasel was dropped a jaeger
from another pair (a non-breeder) appeared and was
immediately closed off. The 4th time the weasel was
dropped, she (the weasel) got away, and the

barked a loud, rough "yaff-yaff" when cornered
and attempted clumsily to defend itself. When the
4 appeared after the jaegers got the 1st two young she
appeared to be searching for them, running actively
in and out between us completely; after
the 3 young were found, she moved very rapidly and
