Euphagus carolinus 1 June. Meade River Coal Mine, 157°25'W, 70°25'N, Alaska. A well marked & well deep yellow gold eyes seems feeling on a polygon trough between camp and the AF Waningan. Frank said he had seen it in camp earlier. It flew off giving typical blackbird call, landing near the creek and was later in the flats N of the village. The rusty rump to the back was evident, and eye color is so unlike Brewster's Blackbird I don't see how the two can be mistaken at close range.
