P. De Benedetti 1965 Stercorarius pomarinus Stercoraria 20 June Barrow, Alaska - Saw one sham copulation. There were groups of 12-15 on S (one group) and 11 (2 groups) Salt hagoons in addition to territorial birds, and the nest found June 17 now contains 2 eggs. 21 June Nothing on B. Salt hagoon except about 60 near the opening in the ice, a bat about 35-40 on South Salt hagoon, all just sitting. No special behavior was seen other than territorial flights and the nest was not checked. 22 June Only a group of about 15 on S. Salt hagoon in the above area in addition to territorial birds; only sign of a nest is the 2 egg one above. In the evening went towards Elson hagoon: a group of ~40 out on Central Marsh and ~10-15 on Wohl Scholz + territorial birds. Found 4 nests 3 in 1 egg, 1 with 2 + Steve had found 2 1 egg and 1 2 egg nest in the same area. Saw one copulation. 23 June A group of about 40 birds on the S part of Family hagoon near an opening in the ice. 24 June No change in above area. See Pat. Jaeger. In the afternoon spotted a large group on Central marsh and counted 69 on the ground and at least 10 overhead. There were about 15 on the mouth of Wohlschlag Slough. Found 5+ nests today, 3 already marked and 2 not checked. I saw about 100 yards WSW of the Cull Foremost Point now contains 2 eggs (one or the 22nd) and the
