P.Benedicts,P 1965 Stereocarins Povanni 9 June Barrow, Alaska, cont. A jogger was struck by the J Owl, although Caitlin's tag had not been bothered. The jagers here are much whiter below and have less [illegible] on the wings than do most of the birds I have previously seen in Wollong Bay; Only saw 1 Black phase bird aid us "jud your" plumy. Saw 2 joggers eating ice and seen Snowy Owl for additional account of running feeding. 10 June. none about ATL area; all birds seen today were South+ cost of the Beach ridge. The 1st large concentration seen was 18 sitting on the snow in the SE part of the central marsh in a large area; about 10 territorial birds could be seen in the same area to the SW; there were scattering birds along the Beach Ridge and elsewhere in the Central Marsh and towards Elson lagoon from this area, again mostly apparently territorial birds. There was a group of about 12-17 birds on the N part to Wohlschlag Slough and a slightly smaller group (8-12) near Grant Point; about 8 additional birds were feeding or flight-displaying over Wohlschlag Slough. Saw only 1/2 melanistic birds and very few (2-3) aerial combats. 11 June Saw much territorial flight but no concentrations although 6-8 birds could be seen at one time; those are neither evenly spread out in the areas south of the Beech ridge.
