30 June Meade River Coal Mine, 15°25'W, 70°29'N, Alaska
Gathering of birds south of the cairn plot also
was probably on a cairn. There are evidently more
birds about than I had thought, but with poor by
1/2 exceptions, all were adults. By the afternoon
most of the birds had gone, with about 6-8 in
the lake.
1 July A few birds on the mudflats in the Meade R.
resting.
4 July Only 1-2 birds near Lake Agassiz and evidently
not resting on the island where they were 30 June.
One was attacked by the local Black-belly gull.
5 July One or two on the flats opposite North Line.
6-11 July Two to 4 birds in the lake Agassiz region,
all adults. Were incubating. Most molting
for the inner primaries, outer secondaries.
