Nov.30 Newport Bay, Orange Co., Calif.: 2 seen at close range (20')
in tall salt-marsh vegetation at high tide {TG,G} near the
"Submarine Cable" sign on Back Bay Dr. -- a known locality but
the first report this year. Bright tawny-buff, almost orange,
eyebrow, throat, breast, and outline to gray cheek patch; nape
smooth gray; brown crown with paler center stripe; bright white
back stripes on brown back; white belly; short tail: secretive.
