Remsen, J.V. 1975 Black-throated Green Warbler Dendroica virens May 4 Cimmaron River, Baca Co., Colo: 1 ♀ or imm. ♂ watched for 2 minutes from about 60 ft. as it foraged in cottonwood foliage 15-25 ft above the ground in a dry cottonwood river bottom. Face - yellow with prominent greenish triangular cheek patch. Throat - yellow Upper (thus not ad. ♂). Breast - black, fading into black streaks along lower breast flanks. Belly and undertail coverts - white. Back and crown - bright green. Wings - dark with two prominent white wingbars. Lack of streaks on back and white belly and lower breast eliminates Townsend's Warbler.
