Feb. 28 Tilden Reg. Park, Contra Costa Co., Calif: 1 bird seen flying with twigs (= nesting material) in its mouth. Another individual was noted in the same spot from whence the first bird had just flown which was breaking off twigs in the top of a small dead tree. Although it broke off at least three twigs, it dropped them all and flew in the same direction as the first bird. Early to be nesting?
