Tropical Kingbird
Tyrannus melancholicus
Sep.27 Monterey area, Monterey Co. Calif.: 1 at Crespi Pond with Western Kingbirds.
This bird swooped at and successfully stole a Hyla regilla (just captured)
from a Western Kingbird, and ate it.
Oct.12 Monterey area: 1 - Crespi Pond
Oct.13 Monterey area: 2 - Crespi Pond. Call a chatter or rattle: "chi-da-du"
or "chiddle-di" - very different from call given by birds under
same name in Amazon - as different as between any other species
of Tyrannus.
