Red-breasted Sapsucker
Sphyrapicus ruber
11 Dec Eastern Mohave Desert, San Bernardino Co., Calif : 1 drilling in Am. Elm next to Kelso railroad station. The sap was being drunk from the holes by an Audubon's Warbler and 5 House Sparrows (2♂, 2♀, 1im.♂). The sapsucker showed no aggression toward the other species, even with a ♂ House Sparrow drinking only 1 ft. away.
