Remsen, J.V. 1975 Little Gull Larus minimus Jan. 20 copy of drawing made at the time of observation: (cont) leading edge of wing blackish- not white like Bonaparte's bill short and black brownish-gray smudge on nape wing color outside zigzags a dark brownish-gray- darker than Bonapartes, back gray like Bonaparts black extended to sides - could be seen from below black-tipped tail (black extended all the way to the tips) blackish zigzagging stripes on wings. (much darker, wider and more conspicuous than even the most strongly marked Bonapartes) First record for Northern Calif and 3-4th state record.
