Remsen, J.V. 1974 Green-tailed Towhee Chlorura chlorura May 10 Flagstaff area, Coconino Co., Ariz.: 1 May 13 Arrastre Creek, San Bernardino Co., Calif.: 5 June 14 Mt. Pinos, Kern Co., Calif.: At last I think I can tell their song from Fox Sparrow - its much more buzzy, harsh, and abbreviated. The Fox Sparrow is sweeter, more musical, and more prolonged. The Fox Sparrow also is a good mimic, but I haven't yet heard this species incorporate other species' calls into its song the way Fox Sparrow does.
