Remsen, J.V. 1974 Glaucous Gull Larus hyperboreus Jan.26 Monterey Bay offshore boat trip, Monterey Co. Calif. 1 imm. with pure (nearly) white wings, some mottling on belly, very massive thick bill with pink proximal 3/4, sharply defined dark tip. Found in a large mixed-species gull feeding flock about ~5-7 miles w. of Moss Landing. Feb.2 Monterey Bay offshore boat trip: 1 imm. Very white wings, head; some mottling on breast and upper-tail coverts; tail pale tan, bill pale proximal 3/4, dark tip. About 10 miles off Moss Landing - probably same bird as last week.
