Remsen, J.V. 1974 Broad-winged Hawk Buteo platypterus Dec. 13 Golden Gate Park, San Francisco Co, Calif: li spotted by Laurie Binford as it rose in a thermal at the Calif. Academy of Sciences. From a distance with the naked eye the whiteness of the underparts were con- s cious. It eventually set its wings and headed south, flying directly overhead, showing its nearly immaculate white underparts and underwings; short, broad tail and wings, dark malar streaks.
