At 1905 two birds were observed in what must have been courtship flight. One bird was following the other slightly above and behind it, probably by about 5-10 feet. The lower bird wheeled and circled in evasive-looking maneuvers over a hillside about 100' and the other bird attempted to follow every move. Most of the time flight was leisurely but occasionally the lower bird would tilt suddenly and drop rapidly, but the upper bird still stayed close. This went on for about 20 minutes without interruption and then the two made a straight line away from the hillside to the SW and disappeared out of sight, one still very close behind the other. All this took place after sunset and it was getting dark when they deported - the automatic lights at Wagner Ranch School had already come on, triggered by the dim light.
