Remsen, J.V. 1974 Snowy Egret Leucophoyx thula Jan.6 Belieley Aquatic Park, Alameda Co, Calif : 15 Feb.16 Los Banos WMA, Merced Co, Calif : 10 were feeding with a flock of White-faced Ibis , but were not hunting themselves, but only trying to rob the ibises The ibises were probing into the mud right up to their faces, getting an unknown food which was obviously unavailable to the short and straight-billed egrets. As soon as an ibis would come up with something, the egret would dash after it , running and either flying after it until either the ibis ate it or dropped it. The ibises were never seen to drop anything nor the egrets pick anything up. I have seen Ring-billed Gulls harassing the ibises here in the past. May 24 Scottys Castle, Death Valley Nat.
