Pygmy Owl I responded to my imitations which I was doing to attract small birds,
this all at about 1030. It flew in from quite a distance and was located
by Susanne sitting in the tops of pines - it followed us until we left the
area, tracking us for over a mile while I was calling to it. It would
never come close to the ground. It was almost continually harassed by
small birds. We attracted it to the parking lot where we set up a
scope on it and watched it for several minutes - Besides the "toot"
call, it gave a rapid series of "chups" after landing at a new perch.
