M. Redon, 1942 Journal Cedar Grove, H. L. Co., S. Fork Kings R., Fresno Co., Calif. May 31, 1942 Species seen: Chipping Sparrow Western Robin Calaveras Wasples Steller Jay Purple Finch (California?) Red-shafted Flicker Sceloporus California Mule Deer Thicknee. Gray Squirrel June 1, 1942 Up at 7:35. Helped to dishes, etc. Tonnie (F. Ogilvie) + R. Carlson left and afterward, 9:50, Mrs. Gunnell + I came up the trail to the Callopo nest. She picked some ferns etc. + then went back down. I stayed at the nest until about 1:30. While there I saw several Thicknees, some Sceloporus, and returned to camp at about two. On the way down, on the trail by the New Trail + the Water Angel trail (trail to Sheep Creek Dam), I came across a rattlesnake; my reason for deciding to come back to camp, rather than go see the Water Angel.
