M. Redon, 1942 Journal Elder Grove, 2,000 ft, S. Fork Kings R., Fresno Co, Calif. May 29, 1962 As we arrived higher up, we saw Snow Bushes (?), and at Summit Window, we saw Lodgepole Pine (indicator species for Boreal forest) and some White wood violets). We also heard a [illegible] Flycatcher Woodpecker giving a call which Mr. Elison say, insists "who purs' you?" "you fear me - !" At 3:55 we arrived at the Telescope nest and stayed while the rest pro- ceded to Camp. At 4:30 I started back to camp. On arrival cleaned up, ate dinners, wrote notes, & prepared for bed. Species seen: California Mule deer Western Robin Western Foxgiva Peromypous boylii? Coloueras Washers Oregon Junco White-throated Swift Muttell Flycatcher Hermit Warbler Brown Creper Fox Sparrow Pileatus [illegible] Woodpecker Mr. Checkadee Ground Squirrel Muttell Flycatches. Mountain Luril (heard) Red-breasted Sapucker Hyle (?) Steller Jay Black-headed Grosbeak - (Pair in camp) Callispet Hummingbird Alaske Nutcracker
