We arose at about 5:35 at J. Crowley's.
I proceeded immediately to our trapline -
near the end of Hotel Creek. We found one
Pteromyscus (Crowlil?) which had been caught
in a trap box at the edge of a fallen log,
about 10 ft. from the foot of the slope.
Two of our traps had been sprung; the
remaining 17 were intact & we left them
all, resetting those which had been sprung.
We saw a California Mule Deer crossing
the road on our way up to our traps. On
the way back, we saw Western Tanagers,
5 and 9 and stopped at the Robin's nest.
She was still sitting.
After breakfast, Mr. Dixon came up,
and, at about 8 a.m., we left for Forkout
Creek, provided with trail lunches. We
followed the old trail up, finding that
this went up much more directly than the
new trail. As we reached the pass, we
heard Nuttall Flycatcher, Pale-tailed Wood-
picker and Mt. Quail. Mr. Dixon showed
us a Pine Tree from which the ground let
