M. Redon, 1942 Journal Cedar Grove &. Inka King's R., 4600ft., Fresno Co., Calif. May 23, 1942 Wood Pewee or Ash-Throated (?) and got a very good look at a White-headed Wood-pecker. Arrived at camp at about 4:30 p.m. and proceeded to clean up and write a few notes, as well as to look up some of our birds. On arrival at camp, I saw a male Black-headed Grosbeak in an Incense cedar right where we were camped. After dinner, went out to reset our traps. Found that several had been gnawed upon during the day and hoped that that indicated better luck this time. No Chipmunk in our trap. Species seen: Western Jay Chipping Sparrow Calaveras Warbler Sparrow Hawk (?) Steller's Jay Ash-throated Flycatcher (?) Brown Creeper (in yellow pine) Chipmunk Black-headed Grosbeak Swifts Sparrow Hawk Red-shafted Flicker White-headed Woodpecker Sceloprus Crespe Hummingbird Mountain Quaker
