Mormoops megalophylla
May 4 ½ mi South of Mulege, 100+ ft. Baja California.
Six or eight caught by cave in mountainside
about ¼ mile north south of the mission at Mulege.
The one specimen I put up was a male (#13).
The Mormoops were associated with Leptonycteris (?)
-put up by Dr. Benson, and Macrotoys californicus.
Bats were in second room of cave (see journal pgs.
48 & 49 for description).
June 24 Same Location. Revisited above cave this morning and
found only one of this species. One Leptonycterus
and about five Macrotoys californicus were
captured, but the latter were released. The cave
had far fewer numbers of bats in it this
time, only about 50 Macrotoys californicus
being seen and only one of Mormoops
megalophylla and Leptonycterus each (also caught).
