Quest 1948 Journal 136 June 24 1/2 mi South of Mulege, 50+ ft, Baja California At the opening of the cave investigated in which Mormoops megalophylla, Leptonycteris and Macrotus californicus were found was found purple blotches on the rocks below an over- hanging piece of the cliff. It looked as though it might have been fruit stains from pieces of some kind of fruit brought there by one of the bat species. Minimum temperature last night was 69° a clear, still night with no overcast. High humidity here last night and a few mosquitoes adding to threat of Malaria. Departed here about 12:30 PM. and arrived at Santa Rosalia about 6:00 PM after spending two or three hours on the desert between the two towns trying to fix an oil line on the Dodge that had been broken by vibration. The repairs were only partially successful and the Dodge will have to go into the garage tomorrow. June 25 Santa Rosalia, Baja California Arrived here about 6:00 P.M. yesterday and were delayed an hour at the southern outskirts of the town for a diphtheria examination.
