Balro Chospe
May 18 Russian Slutch State Park, Mendocino Co. California, Elevation 500 ft.
1 five inch and 1 one inch found coiled in burrow in pile of
cutting pine needles, redwood twigs, and fern at base of
Bishop pine on level ground north of redwood forest on edge
of forest of Cupressus pygmaea. Dorsum - reddish
brown - definite line marking off dorsal & ventral
coloration. Line - scalloped. Broken brown line down
middle of back. Reddish brown goes over eye to
triangle at tip of snout. Ventral side brown with small
silvery spots. Leg short - dorsal side reddish brown
and ventral brown with silvery spots. Black brown
star-shaped spot on occipital region. Small one
same but not as bright in color as definite.
