Patelka 1948 37 Aphelocona Aug. 3/ 2 mi. S Prisoner's Harbor, Santa Cruz I. back instead of continuing on up the slope. The jay flew into a Eucalyptus thicket, where I soon located and shot it. The wander was a few inches from the jay, its wing and tail feathers all pulled out as well as some of the body (especially back). Apparently the jay would have fed on it. [illegible]
