Common in willow thickets, and ranging into poplars and oaks, along Hayfork Creek and the vicinity of small ponds in the area. Flycatcher digging near Big Creek; also along Big Creek in similar habitat. Young observed out of the nest on the 16th. June 24-26 1 mi W Hyampom, 1200 ft., Trinity Co., Calif. Common in willow thickets and cottonwood willow groves along the base of the south- facing slope, west of camp, and especially on the flat southwest of camp. A nest found in an ash, placed 12 feet above the ground, on a side limb of one of the main lower limbs, about 15 feet from the trunk. There was no under-the-bush. The nest con- tained young, and both adults were bringing food.
