July 19. ½ mi. W Debbs Creek, Pilot Peak, 6000 ft., Elko Co., Nevada.
Five caught on dry canyon slope, rocky + coarse gravelly with some sage brush + closely set junipers in places.
July 20. ½ mi. W Debbs Creek, Pilot Peak, 6000 ft., Elko Co., Nevada.
Twelve caught at identical place as per July 19 above. One specimen found to have an embryo in process of resorption, + also what appeared to be 3 undischarged placentae.
One female had large amount of white sub-cutaneous fat, whose skin dried fast + shrank before it could be stuffed, + hence had to be discarded + skull only saved. Something like many Zapus in this respect.
