Clangula hyemalis
27 June Barrow, Alaska - Two small flock, (10+18) seen
flying W over the Barrow area in the morning and
a flock of about 100 out over the lead, and a few
on the pool as usual and 2 84 and a lone 9 were seen
in the VORTH area.
28 June Two seen in flight over Nisqually Marsh (again).
29 June A pair seen in the polygonal area by N. Meadow lake
and another pair seen in the usual pond by Salt haggers.
30 June two pairs and a lone drake on Central Marsh.
2 July 2 pairs seen on Central Marsh, one of which was flushed
from the S part of Holmes's Marsh, and a pair seen
flying over Nisqually Marsh.
4 July a lone 8 seen in VORTH slough and pairs seen (each)
in the stream at Foot Point, in the polygonal area,
SW of VORTH slough, 3 of Meadow lakes, and in
Central Marsh. One pair was fairly noisy.
5 July 3 seen in the lead and one on the usual pool
near Family Lagoon in the evening; one in central
Marsh in the afternoon.
6 July There were two pairs in Holmes Marsh, about 9 in
the open water at the end of Wohlschlag Slough and 2
diving ducks in the slough, and a flock of 60's was seen
flying W over Central Marsh.
7 July a flock of 12 seen over Nisqually going SE in the A.M.
and a single in flight near the VORTH area, 2 in VORTH creek.
10 July a pair was seen in Holmes's Marsh and 70's in
Wohlschlag slough. There were a 84 and two lone 9's
in the Heavens Lake area. No nests found.
