Polysticta stelleri
24 June Barrow, Alaska. - saw 4 pairs out in pools
parts of Central Marsh and 2 (?2) flying
near the mouth of Woh (slightly) Slough in the
afternoon. The pairs in this marsh indulged
in considerable head bobbing, and were in rather
shallow water (>6" deep).
25 June at least 5 pairs were in Central Marsh feeding
in shallowly flooded areas opposite Pitha's census
plot and a 6th pair was seen flying along Elson Lagoon.
In the afternoon a pair was seen near the Nice-rot
area, 3 pairs (1+2) flying over the Voth area, and
5 pairs (+2? repeats) between triplanes FAA-B and
the FAA tower; the bobbing display and charge were seen
on several occasions; the feed by tipping and one pair
was heavily mottled with cattails.
26 June Only saw 287s in central Marsh today.
27 June Two pairs were seen on rapidly-flowing VOTH Creek
and 3 more pairs out in Voth Slough which is quite
shoaled. 2 pairs were seen in the VOTH creek and 2 pairs
in the now much-reduced pools by the FAA tower. Little
display
28 June 2 Pairs on a pool in Micronet Marsh.
29 June 2 pairs seen near the FAA tower and 287s near
Micronet Marsh.
30 June found 787 and 87s in Central Marsh plus a recently
shot 4 and 287s in Microned. Little display.
2 Subey saw 287 in Central Marsh and 287s at Micronet Marsh.
