Phalaropus fulicarius 8 July Weelee River Coal Mine, (157°25'W, 70°29'N), Alaska at least one bird acted like it had clish along, a sphagnum dyke with 70% Carry cover area; the dyke was mainly stone sides and open water with wides. The 8 gave a run-through the gain as- just-as-possible type performance. I saw 6 Tukey on the census plot but wouldn't sit on clicks. Not identified. 9 July None on the census plot now. 11 July Phalaropus appear to be less common now than earlier, but still 3-4's in the Smeedleat (illegible) census plot, where they spend most of the time in the Carry marsh areas. One of came out and landed in the Connicalaire, but didn't feed. Saw none in the small pools upland from the Cake Tower Sneel ridge, and none on the census plot. In the evening still in the lake and acting like they have clicks. 13 July There are evidently more at Lake Agassiz than I thought, for when a gander went over, at least a dozan birds got up and flew along with it, chattering excitedly. All of them appeared to be decel plumaged birds. Birds were noted on the ground mostly in areas with standing water and much Carry, but a few (3 or 4) were out in Carry - Eriophyllum where the sphagnum beneath was saturated or with 1+ inches of water. None on the census plot.
