F.D.Benedetti 1966 hobipes lobatus 27 June Meadele River Coal Mine, 157°02'5"W, 70°29'1"N, Alabama 3-4 Ts and 1-2 Ts in the large lakes in the flat opposite camp. The birds only loosely associated and no fights seen. A group of 3-4 Ts flew over. 29 June Small groups of pleasure, mostly this species flying over the census plot and camp during day. All seemed to be Ts. The birds are very noisy, giving a high pitched "plick" call like the note given in migration. 29 June Small groupings still present on lake Agassiz. 4 July Several small groups out in lake Agassiz and at least 1 lone T. The group appear to be all Ts. The calls now typical of birds in migration. 5 July A small group of Ts with 1-2 Reds in the larger shallower lakes opposite north dunes. The birds are very active, seldom landing, but don't seem to be moving through. 8 July 1 or two in the west Carry area along lake Agassiz. All appeared to be Ts. 11 July One Pacted which had chicks in a Carry pool with 1-2" of water. It seemed to be most interested in an area along a spongous depth. 13 July About half a dozen birds got up from lake and flew along with a Peregrine Friege that went over. Most appeared to be Ts.
