3 June Maclell Rivers Coal Mine, 157°25'W, 78°29'N, Alaska
A ♀ flew over the village going S about 1 P.M.
4 June 3♀s seen, two resting near a snow patch by the
CQ campfire and one in flight near the village.
5 June About a dozen, mostly in ones and twos, all ♀s
seen flying from 2 to 5 A.M. One in a puddle behind
camp in the early afternoon. They give a loud black-bird
like "tock" which I have not heard in migration and
don't seem to have the "squeal" of Red Phalaropes.
Saw a ♀ in a pool behind camp in the evening.
6 June A few seen flying about and one in the pools
near camp.
8 June Two ♀s in a pool near the Coal mine, feeding
along the edge, and one in flight near the
camp fire.
9 June Two ♀s in a pool on this U.V. lay, not feeding
very actively. Several small groups (1-2) going
over in the evening. When it sounds like a flock of
Blackbirds going over, it's this species.
10 June A few ♀s seen in pools and in flight. One ♀
near camp. Not as common as Red Phalaropes
and usually seen only by the village area.
11 June Most close to camp but 1-2 flew are near
the south ridge area.
12 June Seen in the pools behind camp and in lake
Aggessy only, less # seen them. Phalaropes.
