Limonodoner scolopaceus 16 June Whade River Coal Mine. 15°02'5" W, 70°29'N. A few A couple of 8's seen along the W side of lake Agassiz and occasionally giving much song. No pairs closely associated and no 9's seen. 17 June Two 8's alone in the village field. Two 8's along the W side of lake Agassiz, still singing a little. Seen on the far side of the bleede. The 8's commonly sing when flushed with the 9's first gave the "keek" notes in rapid series. 8's singing by lake Agassiz 19 June A male singing over the cranberry plot area during much of the day. In the even a 8 got very excited about my presence on the high bluff 2 mi S of camp and, with a dunlin, moved about with me, staying just out of gun range. Later it turned up with a 9, which I shot but did not wound enough to kill. 20 June A couple of 8's seen over the village dunes and over the polygonal area NW of the village. Only a little song. No 9's seen. 21 June A 8 origin in intermittently over the cranberry plot most of day. 8 landed only N. and S. of its plot as far as I could tell. No 9's seen. 23 June The doos, there have moved into the large marsh in lake Agassiz where they are out on the sphagnum flats feeding actively, and we were #8 in the margin of the lake. One 8 was seen feeding was definitely probing the base of some tufts, its bill slightly open the motion being 3-5 jabs followed by 1-2 probes, then moving to another spot. They are shy and several 8's almost
