P. D. Benedict's 1965 Limonodromas scolopaceus 28 June Bourou, Alaska - 3 rather silent birds ("keek" not only) were seen near Micconet Marsh, a pair and a lone bird which sometimes joined the pair. The only one seen feeding was "jabbing" in a shallowly flooded area with Redhead Sandpipers. 29 June Saw singles near Line I+III, over the VOTH area and at Micconet Marsh, the 1st and last displaying a Mistle. 30 June This was the most conspicuous and almost the most abundant species on Central Marsh; they fed in fairly grumpy areas and tended to keep in groups and at least in pairs. The rolling display note was given about 10 times for each keek note, and the doubled display song, given in flight, was frequently heard. They were much less vocal in the evening. In addition to the birds on Central Marsh I saw about 6 in the polygonal ground pool the Bevel Ridge and 2 in Micconet Marsh. 2 July Duskhellers were found widely in the area covered but were clearly not as common as on June 30. They were much less vocal, no display notes being heard and only occasional "keek" notes from birds which I flushed. The tendency for birds to be in pairs was much less marked today. 3 July about 40 in VOTH slough and 10 in Micconet. 4 July 3 birds in an aerial chase were seen over triplifies III-A-B, and disappeared to SW. at least one gave a song which I can transcribe as: pl pl pl pl ee pl pl ee pl pl ee pl pl eee ---5---
