P. De Benedicht 1965 Calidris alpina 28 June Barrow, Alaska - clistikelled and little more numerous than Golden Plovers from about Micsnut Marsh on to the vicinity of gasline Ridge. In the evening saw one flying capriciously inland over the Barrel area giving a lighter pitched, double call not which I have not heard before. 29 June Birds were rather silent today and almost all seen were in primary molt. The nest in Micsnut is still 3 eggs only and the 4 egg nest in the V8TH area is unchallenged. Hamilton found a suit on the Beach Ridge near the FAA tower. Two birds in display covered a very large area, at least 1000 feet, unchallenged. 30 June Relatively few seen in Central Marsh, perhaps one of the less common (of its regulars) in this marsh and seen predominantly along the edge of the marsh. The nest near Micsnut still contains 3 eggs and got a stony distraction display from the Wodeling bird, which sat very tiger. 1 July Saw 2 birds, both with primary molt near the Micsnut Nest and the bird still sit tight. When (she) jumped (she) went into a wing out distraction display at first sight into the usual field we far away; [illegible] this was more plain like than the other Calidrice I have seen may indicate a greater tendency "to want to fly" on this part of the bird.
