Anser albifrons Meade River Coal Mine, 150°25'W, 70°29'N, Alaska 4-7 June Small groups, 1 to 4, in flight over the area most times I am out. None on the ground and no big flocks. 8 June Two landed on a ice shelf along the Meade 8 of camp in the afternoon and two in a grassy area on the far side of the Meade in the evening. Small groups overhead in the evening. 9 June 3-4 seen in the village flats area, mostly in flight. 10-2 over in the evening. 10 June Sh/ll landing on the far side of the river, and also near the mouth of South creek. Rarely see them going over anymore, and seldom see even 3 together. 11 June A few lone birds going over, a pair on the far side of the Meade opp. south creek. 12 June Scattered on the tundra. No longer going over much. 16 June A lone bird on a puddle near the camp plot. It flew off at my approach. 17 June One evidently attached to the area on the far side of the Meade 2 mi. N of camp. No nest found. 18-27 June Rarely noted any longer, though sh/ll in the area (1 seen 21 June). - occ. lone or pairs flying over. 29 June Found a nest with 3 eggs along South creek near the lake at its mouth. The nest was on a Carey mound and very open. The 2 fledged off and (swooped) in the lake when I approached. Lone a 2nd pair came in and the 4 flew about
