Anser albifrons Meade River Coal Mine, 157°25'W, 70°29'N, Alaska 21 May About 25 gun (3 group - 10, 15, 3) seen in the afternoon, all flying own head. 1 mi 24 May 15 flushed from snow covered tundra SE of camp; they flew off N along the Meade R. 25 May 6 flew over the camp area about 1:30 PM, 26 May 6 flew over camp about 6 PM. 27 May 6 seen flying over 1K Mather Lake about 9:30 AM and 8 flying N along the Meade about 11. 4 seen flying over camp about 6 PM. 28 May The largest group I saw today was 7 and, most were in 3's and 4's; a few conc birds, all birds were seen in flight only. 29 May Largest group seen was 6 and several singles and pairs noted. Very noisy but none seemed inclined to land. 30 May Small group of geese flying about all A.M. and in the late P.M. - 1 to 7-in-a-group. None landed. No pattern to flight direction. 31 May Much as the last two days. Largest group seen was 7. 2 June Small groups - mostly 3+4 seen flying about during the A.M. No pattern to the directions taken by groups of birds and possibly some are circling the area. Several flying about toward south 3 June A few seen flying near the village. Two landed on the flat N of the village along the river. A quorum of seen seen about 9 PM.
