Calideis Maui . 2 5 June Meade River Coal Mine, 157°25'W, 70°39'N, Alaska One feeding in a garbage heap in the village, later seen chasing a♂ semipal. In the evening a pair was feeding along the edge of Casey marshes behind camp. They associated loosely and the♀ was very shy. The♂ song on the ground, like the freight song, but in a dumblin ground song posture. The ♀ alarm call is like semipal but more rolling and higher pitched mm mm mm mmm... 6 June a pair near the mouth of S.Hage creek, the♂ occasionally singing. They feed in many areas out country part of the wrease (road) in trampled down, wet Elymus, etc. on the road. The♂ chased Semipal several times. The♀ very shy; she probes more than does the♂. Collected the♂ on the wrease road. Later heard a 2nd male singing near there. A♀ still behind the lab feeding along Casey marshes in the evening. 7 June At least one near the village with Semipal Sandpiper and the♀ pa seems to be present along the pond edges behind camp. This and semipal, ofter seen hovering over shallow water, landeau are peeking at something, and hovering again, almost like a phalarope. 8 June A male singing on the village ridge near the wrease and a♀ seen sleeping near Doro. 9 June A male singing W of the village, probably just passing through. 10 June A pair in the village, the♂ singing and ? displaying to the
